Beta 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 Released
Enjoy!
What's New
2.1.1
Stuff
Things
- New-look menus
- Levels up to 60
- Performance improvements
- Option to use a lower resolution. Try this out if your computer struggles with Blackshift.
- Level loading is now faster, especially when restarting a level.
- Reimplemented GPU instancing. This should speed up the game by quite a bit.
- This was taken out a few versions ago because my implementation was buggy. I know what I'm doing now. Promise.
- I didn't add the option back to the options menu; it's just on for everyone.
- Miscellaneous graphic and sound updates and fixes
- Mouse pointer now hidden while playing
- Oops, Mac only, sorry! I messed this up on Windows.
- Level Pit changes
- When you get a high score, you should see it in the leaderboard straight away.
2.1.2
- Fixed mouse pointer bug on Windows
2.1.3
- What's that? Everything should be Twitter? I agree! Blackshift now has favourites.
- You can add a level to your faves by clicking the star on the level page.
- See a list of your favourites on your user page. You can only see your own for now.
- The most popular levels are shown on the Awards page.
- Bugs fixed
- Made it look less glitchy when a coloured door closes on you
- Fix a bug where your time would start out wrong on the leaderboard, then correct itself.
- You now end up in the right place after editing or deleting a level, instead of just being dumped back to the Level Pit homepage.
- Tiny graphics update for the orange peg switcher machine. See if you can spot it :)
Wow, I don't know if I'm more excited for the stuff, or the things.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Thanks Rob
¤ I'm loving it!!!
ReplyDelete¤ the scores are updated immediately!!!
¤ the new objects are very cool, but i don't see the multi bullet, as in "an easy choice"
¤ after a moment, my mouse pointer disappears (i'm on windows)
¤ i can't play the "Official" 60 Levels (cosmic ray...)
I'm also having the mouse pointer disappearing
DeleteMe too, can't do shit!
Deletethe multi-bullet : FOUND!!! :) (right click on the bullet)
Deleteoooooooooh neat intro!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the new sound effects! And a multi-bullet to carry around, yay:-)
ReplyDeleteand thanks Rob for taking care of us playing on a mac!
ReplyDeletethe multi-bullet is a bit buggy, at least while playing in the level editor.
ReplyDeleteWhat problems have you found?
DeleteIt doesn't shoot a bullet on every fire attempt. Maybe that is how it should be? If you watch the rerun on my newly published level "Easter shootout" you will see it clearly.
DeleteLooks like you're just hitting the bullet limit. If there's too many bullets, nothing will fire until some of them disappear.
DeleteAh, of course... You're right, my bad. Now if you'd only add a 'turnstile' tile, through which you could bring any item one-way..:-).
ReplyDeleteMaybe you can use a customs lock and a conveyor belt together?
DeleteMouse disappears permanently in Windows!
ReplyDeleteEven in 2.1.2?
DeleteIt works now in 2.1.2 - Thanks!
Deleteabout the 60 Levels:
ReplyDelete1 to 39: ok
40: i can play it but the level freezes when i win it
41 TO 50 : i can't play it (but they are unlocked)
50 to 60: locked
i tried on my pc at work, and it works now.
DeleteMills, I just saw you beat Impossible City! Amazing! I'm going to need to introduce a reward for beating hard levels :)
Deleteyes, and i 've loved it so much!!!
Deletei had already tried it several times , since months, but it is a so big city that i hadn't understood what i had to do!!!
and one day, I walked around in the city, trying to get my thoughts In order, and i slowly understood.
It was a great level!!! i've just given a star to your impossible city!
i am often reproached to build too difficult levels, but it's true that i love playing difficult levels, so it's understandable that i love build hard levels...
(and sometimes, i also build some easy or normal ones...)
Check it out Rob! ;) I like to break things!
ReplyDeleteBehind the blue door, using the door close tile, watch what happens!
As well, watch what happens the multi-bullet machine!
:D
You mean when the door closes on you? It's just a graphics bug, it won't affect gameplay. But it's fixed in the next update! I need an abbreviation for that. FINU.
DeleteOh yeah, I see you can't put stuff on the red blue etc tiles any more!
ReplyDeleteThat's right, and I'm sure you can figure out why! :)
DeleteActually it'd be kinda cool if you could drop an item then close the door, and it lifted the item up.
That was a feature in Netshift and you had to drop the tile to get to the item! That was fun! Do it!
DeleteI like the way the multi-bullet machine works with lasers - I can do shit with that! Check out Multi Directional. I also like trapped in the doors! I break things - ha ha!
ReplyDeleteYes it's great!!! you built a laser loop!!!
DeleteIf you look at Multi Directional, you will see that it is flawed and Rob will prolly fix it.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't seem flawed to me. What am I missing?
DeleteI stopped the entire loop by blocking 1 multi-gun although the soft laser was still pressed! However, I retested using a hard laser and the loop does not shut down when I cover the multi-gun. So, it might be like when you stand on a receiver on the transporter and the sliding block stays on the sender!
DeleteI like the feature of the now multi-purpose weapon! :)
Ah, you're right! That's so weird, I found that exact same bug yesterday. FINU!
DeleteLet's call it the multi-purpose deflector! Ha ha ha! Awesome!
DeleteRob, your timer is a bit off but eventually figures it out. Methinks, after a save, it uses the second section of the game for the instant time (assuming you didn't go straight thru). Not a problem but you might want to check it.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's just a silly bug. It's already fixed for the next update.
DeleteYou had the same bug in Netshift until you fixed it!
DeleteDid some more testing on the timer. It will not update unless you exit the game and go back in!
ReplyDeleteHa ha - some clever new levels Rob for the game and I see you added the blue enemy counter to the mix, just right click the diamond counter. I like that!
I really like that too. Looking forward to what you'll do it with it, Obie
DeleteI just put out a tester Fepe - will make something later with all the goodies! :)
DeleteA few issues with update 2.1.3 - Rob's new level crashes (Borges' Revenge). As well, when I press quit, it takes a bit to actually quit! Things have slowed down!
ReplyDeleteDoes it crash in a specific place?
DeleteOn burri's win. I did the same and crashed.
DeleteThat is the one where you have the new non-directional slider block that doesn't show up on the menu. I tried it again to go right at the transporter but, still crashed. Have no idea how burri got a score but sometimes when you have multiple win levels, only your first win counts even though you did faster on the second win. Will try a demo in a minute.
DeleteThat didn't work! I can't figure it out because when you hit the teleporter you end up in the same place! The bug must be in the new component methinks. I will delete "go left first' as it didn't prove the point.
DeleteSo when exactly does it crash? When you go in the teleporter?
DeleteI checked the crash report and it's crashing in the graphics code. Maybe there's a bug with that block's graphic. Or — looks like you're using OpenGL —
you could try DirectX?
Will do. I am on OpenGL, Just move to directX11
DeleteOK, DX11 works - thanks - I got a cheap graphic card in my ACER which crashes regularly on an akm blah blah flaw. My Lenovo is better but missing a right arrow button!
DeleteJesus, I build a game and can't even beat it! WTF? Thanks guys for showing it can be won. Buahahaha! Have some problem with my computer so, the next level will take some time to finish which will include all the goodies I discovered in the latest update.
ReplyDeleteRob, i 've liked your Sliding Block in "Borge's Revenge" , but i don't find it in the editor???
ReplyDeleteSorry, it's not available yet, I need to fix a few things with it. Next update, hopefully!
DeleteGot a new level workin on - shows a bunch of flawa - damn - I love flaws! Ha ha ha!
