Level Pit Maps

I've written some code to generate maps of Blackshift levels. For your entertainment, here are the top ten level pit levels, mapped:

The blue dot is the start, pink are enemies, and yellow to red is the danger rating (proportion of players who died at each location).

I was thinking it might be nice to put the maps in the level pit interface so you can see the layout of the level before you play it.

Update: By request:

Sushi cat is so beautiful like that!!! it looks like a jewel!!!

    1. Actually, I beat that level in the before-time as well as Wunk's "Safe Me". However, back in the day, sometimes the wins didn't count especially if you had a save tile. Where the hell is Wunk anyways?

    2. I fixed 666 because I didn't like your win Monsieur Mills. Too bad I can't get this Lenovo to load the program but, my Acer part has been shipped and I will be back. I try not to hide anything so you can see what you are up against."Blood in the Cut", gonna be tough, but I see some flaws in my level - ha ha ha, I am the master builder because I make you work. I screwed up and named a level twice the same name. It is on the board and methinks I am going Rob and push out multiple outcomes. Let's have fun but jesus, someone else post a level. At this rate, I cannot be level queen because, you guys are beating all my 27 pages of levels and my score doesn't count. Damn bad luck and Rob, the levelelater posts don't help in figuring out the level. You gotta put real time stuff on that thread so, we can find out what is hidden.

    3. waouw!!! thanx rob, this map is crazy!!!

  3. Rob, check out Counter Failure. If you kill the last two enemies at the same time, the counter reads 0 0 but, you cannot go thru it. I thought this might only be with lasers but it fails if you blow up the last two enemies at the same time.

  4. You must have found another flaw in the game Mills!

Rob, tried to load the program in an identical Lenovo, same operating system (Win8.1), and it locked up ("not responding"). I have no idea of the problem - will try it again and see if I get a crash dump file in windows where ever that is located in Win8.1!

    3. Okay Mills, the Microsoft Win10 virus hit this computer a while back and loaded Win10 without my permission but I cancelled the install but lost everything in the process when I went back to Win8.1. That may be the problema if it re-flashed something. The Acer is Win7 and works but it is in the shop right now. Thanks, yes, that helps!!

  5. oh Tatascan!!! i'm so happy you built some new great levels!
    Two levels in 2 days!!!
and they are fucking good; i gave a star to both!!!

"Easy Level" was not easy, and "impossible level" was not impossible!!! ;)

i hope you are going to build again and again... One level a day would be crazy! :)

PS: i dunno why, your impossible level appears twice... i tried the second one to see if it was different, but it's not...

  6. Hi. Thanks for the comments on the new levels, I'm glad that you like them Mills. I showed the game to my 13 year old son and to be honest he helped me to do the last two levels. I'm waiting for his new laptop and as soon as we have it he's going to create a personal Blackshift account. I will try to make levels more often. Obie is right, it is necessary that all players build more levels, isn't fair for him that can not play new levels and that he has built more than 400

I also don't know why the level appears twice.

    Regards

    Tatascan.

  7. Tatascan, I have more that one level reproduced twice. It is a bug but kinda neat!! Don't get a Lenovo. And my ACER mama bored just crashed so, looking for new schit! Meanwhile, got new level I am working on, not nasty, just complicated.

  8. sorry Obie... i am the guilty one! I was not able to refrain from trying your wip level...
    sorry ;)

    2. Think I might have a plan and go with a SabikDK ending with a bit of Ren attached. Then, end it with some TequilaJoe stuff. The blocker has been removed as there might be an alternate path. Thinking about putting in some Zxin stuff (or is it Xzin?) - diabolical!! That would be on the alternate path - wait for it as my Acer died so, can't do stuff at home and work is busy. And, Tatascan, I don't put save tiles where you cannot avoid them and have to start the level again. But it is your game!

    3. Okay Mills, will open up WIP tomorrow but no end. But you can play it till it ends in nothing. I am planning a crazy ending from a massive level ,I made in Blackshift 1. It is long. I made a copy of one of three I made. Trying to remember the other two but some had issues we cannot deal with in this Blackshift properly. I also have a copy of Wunk's original Safe Me in Blackshift 1 - never beat it! Your latest, forget the name 'Millsplit", was clever - will play it again and we shall battle - only I know the secret to WIP.

  11. What a dumbass! Am fixing it! Ha ha ha! There is also a small glitch that renders the game unbeatable - can't figure it out!

  12. Okay Rob, think I found the problem with the Lenovo - [bgfx: err: Device is lost. FAILED 0x887a0005 DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED (DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG)] How do you fix that?

  13. Well, if you can't find a solution Rob and both my Lenovo's, Win7 show the same flaw, what is the fix? My last level was just a remake of one where you didn't have to go down the board but, you could win with a death - I fixed it. Well, you could still win with a death - ha ha ha!

  15. oh my god, Obie, you built an awsome level, again!!! i am stuck in your bagels, but it's great!!!

  17. BTW Mills, you can run the bottom with one stop, but if you miss, you are kinda screwed again! You can also run the top but no save tiles! Ha ha ha, I bad! Tatascan will beat it methodically. He is catching you!

  19. Oh merde, I got an idea! Ha ha ha, will work on it next week - a level full of deceptions!! And maybe multiple outcomes.

  20. @Tatascan, Rob will eventually remove that multi-shot flaw and your score may go away! (On Dammit Bobby! :D)

  21. I was doing another level which I made in the original Blackshift but it doesn't work because of the bullet count limit! Damn! Gonna have to work on that! It was an awesome level but needs work on this platform.

And burri, I see you have mastered Sokoban! And #143 seems to have stumped everybody but I see the win level is 65 moves.

More levels guys, getting bored amusing you!

  22. Well, I see you have found a weird flaw in Blackshift Mills. I created a level just to test it and yep, it is weird - Rob, you can step in at any time! (BlockD) Actually, I beat my WIP level thru a flaw but have much more to add and it will be changed prolly this weekend so, whatever, you can practice!

    ReplyDelete

    1. BTW Mills, have the original map from old Blackshift and it is huge and ugly. No hints, so, you are on your own! The one posted will be changed regularly while I switch computers and keep editing - methinks 5 minutes at best when done. Hope that is not too long but, may include a shortcut - maybe not!

      Delete
  23. BTW Mills, have no idea how to beat that level!

    ReplyDelete
  24. yes there is a weird flaw with 3 of these 4 moving blocks . I have tested it with all directions and only one worked correctly. I'm gonna send you some videos, Rob!

BTW Obie, my BlockD is not very easy, but it's not very difficult either!!! i'm sure you will quickly find the solution!!

My BLACKSHIFT level (and BlockD too... sort of) , is specially built for the future "Level Pit Map", when we will see the layout of the level before we play it!!!

Besides, this way, i am not Off-Topic"!!! ;D

    1. There are a couple of quirks with the moving block physics; sounds like this might be one of them.

Annoyingly, the quirks I found during testing seem like bugs but if you think through what's actually happening, they do make sense, so I can't really fix them without writing hacks upon hacks.

Think of them like real physics oddities: dark matter, or the Northern Lights. Weird but legal. I'll leave it to you guys to use this stuff sparingly in levels.

(And, yes, 10 points for the on-topic comment!)

      Delete
    2. Also, I'll add: When you make a level, think about why you're making it. Is it to give players the satisfaction of a difficult but tractable puzzle, or is it to show off your knowledge of my coding mistakes?

      Delete
  25. you can be sure i don't know anything in coding. i don't even know what does that mean!! ;D
my levels are ALWAYS built to give players the satisfaction of a difficult but tractable puzzle! and BlockD too...
if i used this stuff, it was only because i just wish it could be fixable, to be able to build the level i was telling you in my e-mail... but it's not a matter, i will find an other solution.

Anyway, be sure it was absolutely not to show off knowledge or something.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Yeah, sorry, I didn't mean to sound so accusative there.

I guess I'm just getting a little frustrated lately because people are submitting levels exhibiting the game's bugs, which other players then send me bug reports about.

Some of these are things that can't even be fixed without monumental effort, and I suspect a few are mathematically unfixable (like the one you mentioned).

If the bugs were in my levels I'd rearrange the level, but I can't do that here. I suppose it's just part of running a Level Pit.

      Delete
    2. What you need to do Rob is to allow us minion beta testers to unpublish a level that is weird and send you the coding. Actually, I like flaws but I can see your point. We want to walk out of here with a perfect game where only skill matters, not deception. I will admit, I broke the rules in Netshift but, people did figure out the flaws and it was a lot of fun! As an example of frustration, your top hardest level in SSB was unbeatable because somehow, the creator managed to put a blocker (Alt Key character) after it was published. You have amazing software coding that detects these issues as I found with a few levels I have modified after being published. If it does not meet your standards, just block it! If a published level does not meet your standards, block it! Simple to me but, I dunno how it works on your end. Be ruthless! Ha ha ha!

    1. i love when i am stuck in a level, and when i have to think a lot to find the solution. So, when i build a level, i try to make the players thinking a lot to find the solution. And sometimes, the player find another way.

  32. Nice to see that 6 of my levels are in the top 11. Had to stop for a bit on "WIP No End" which of course Mills found an end which is not the real end. I made 4 of this game in old Blackshift and Netshift and trying to remember what the hell I did! Getting old I guess. The real part 1 is that you have to move enemies to go into sizzle tiles but if you mess up, they blow you up. But, could use a moveable blocker that I could pick up and set in place. Moving a tile doesn't cut it but am working on it. Then you get the key for the bloodbath. And how you beat it in 23 seconds Mills means I messed up yet again. I will beat it and figure out the problem.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Yeah Mills and burri, I see the problem with WIP - No End but damn, I wasn't finished! I am dealing with a lot of schit here! Ha ha ha! An easy fix but I want to finish the level first so, I have created two more levels that I will add later because I don't want to go thru that exercise again as it is a big level. The bullet limit is the big problem but if you saw my 6 minute solution and all the fails you end up with, you would understand. It worked great on Netshift and the original Blackshift (4 modified levels there). 6 minutos may be a bit long so, may use teleporters to speed it up. BTW, I spanked you both - buahahaha!

    1. BTW, try the long way and hit the goal beside you when you start. Suggestions are welcome! BTW, I finally got Carre d'As, kinda brutal, a bit repetitious but fun. Will try to speed up my score when I have time.

    2. Ha ha ha, you are my tester Mills for WIP. I put the block in there for testing purposes so I could do exactly what you did. Still need the moveable pick up and drop enemy blocker for the next page but will try to figure something out. Kinda busy at work so, will finish it later.

  36. yeah you're right obie, and that's why i published my two last levels, built with my nephew , Ugo, 7 years old...

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, I can't seem to get that follower to turn the freakin' corner in Ugo's 2! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  38. yes, you're right (again) Obie... so, i added a clue (the number "1") but i'm afraid it's too easy now, because you just have to stay on the "1" tile untill you see the follower and then, you just have to drive him to the goal... what should you do?

    ReplyDelete
  39. That really doesn't work for me and I had to wait for the little fcuker to show up. He took forever. But, you gave me an idea for Part One of "This is the End". Still can't beat the bug in "Charlie's Level" - another nephew?

    ReplyDelete
  40. Charlie is my daughter!!! she is too young (4,5) to build a level, but she looked at me, so i gave her name ;)

for the bug, maybe you should try in the other direction...

    ReplyDelete
  41. I will post part 1 of "This is the end". I have an idea. This was my epic level in Blackshift 1. I think I shared it with Wunk but he has disappeared. Like I said, that key will disappear. I think I know what you mean about another direction. Will work on the timing.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I was going to add "Duck Soup" to "This is the End" but decided not. I have no idea how you beat me on "Duck Soup" Mills, I must have gotten sloppy! That is almost 9 seconds! I am going to time it (your method against mine before the Red Door is pounded! Ha ha ha ha!

I can't load my last version of "This is the End" on old Blackshift because if it has a teleporter in it, the program crashes. I will try my old XP and see if it will work. I can send you the file and see if it works on your computer. My IT guy has fckd up most of my computers with high security US Gov't measures but the only thing that I was hacked with was Microsoft, (well because I granted them permission to download their f'n updates).

I will not modify "Duck Soup" unless Tatascan finds a flaw but, if you couldn't, nobody can!

I have another couple of levels from Netshift but built on some flaws. One, the clone machine could be used in any direction which is a good thing. Second, the clone machine could take a blank space and make it into a usable space that you could travel, third, when Rob only had one teleporter, you could erase the landing point with your item. Fourth, he had, well anything that was transportable to deflect enemies but, I agree with him that it should be an item picked from the menu to be used as a deflector. And fifth, a new teleporter (which Wunk also liked as did I) that when you pushed the item off the landing point. Not sure how it worked but, I have JPG's that I can demonstrate because you had to count the moves left, right, up so you knew where it would land and depended on the teleporter behind it. It was so cool I made a ton of levels using the phenom. So far, I am just using work arounds that usually fail. Netshift was the ultimate format, full of flaws and I made over 1400 levels before the money ran out for Rob.

BTW, the wormhole could be used to duplicate the above scenario. I talk too much but just trying to be helpful with ideas. And, most I got were from Netshift which was pretty awesome and we had hundreds if now thousand of players - he he, but then again it was free.

    ReplyDelete
  43. yes you was right Obie, your method on the red door was 4s faster!!!

Send me your file, i will test it!

BTW, did you forget your "Quick Start WIP"??? (page 5)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No Mills, just forgot what I was doing - ha ha ha. It was a test of the universal teleporter to make a bunch of things happen at once with a few decisions to make so you could get to the goal. I will make a small level today to show you the problem of one component if I can beat it.

  46. Obie, your "easy for noobs" is very cool but not so easy!!

First, i didn't find the way to win... and then, i found the "normal method" (as yours) and i beat it in 7s. But i was sure that there was another method... and i finally found it!!! 4.2s !!!

BTW, i didn't know (or i had forgotten) this feature in the "normal method" !!!

  47. I found it on one of my other levels when I noticed the blue door got blown away!

  48. I see your trick on Untractable Mills - I will eventually get it! :D

    ReplyDelete
  49. Been working on Fast Start Wip but, am trying to figure out Rob's methodology. What it should be is this. On the universal scheme of things, it should be, 1st, 2nd , 3rd, 4th etc. as you place the tiles, but, I am thinking something else. Is it ladder logic Rob? Then, I gotta do it right the first time because if I change something, the program code goes to the end of the programming and gets fck'd up because it is processed later! I have removed the ending in Fast Start WIP because it becomes too easy. You don't have to beat the helicopter bug and the rolling monster to win because, you end up on the tile that you need. I am wandering aimlessly in a mist of endless pursuit of the perfect solution!

Still working on it Mills and Tatascan - wait for it, it might even be good! I dunno, so far, not happy.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Nice work burri on Easy for Noobs. I was impressed by the way you and Mills took it down so will not fix it but, rebuild it so you can see my point but, may even increase the point count. I do that sometimes. Ha ha ha, but meanwhile, still working on a few levels that don't seem to work properly. Could use and update from Rob soon for more toys!

    ReplyDelete
  55. Most of those levels are mine Mills and you have not beaten all of mine. I know that Mills! I will make you a special level next week. I don't like making hidden levels but know how to do it. I like to make the game overt so people can see their goal. It makes the game playable and gets more people involved so Rob can continue to promote his game. BTW, I have won all my games but, they do not count.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hahahaha!! oh, yaeh obie , i do really have beaten ALL your winnable levels!!!
the only ones of yours i've not beaten are those:

      Teleport Bug
      Win Test
      Quick Start WIP
      Don't Play - No End!
      Laser Block Demo
      WIP
      Go Left First Rob

i was looking for winnable levels i had not beaten yet, but Rob confirmed to me : i completed the Pit !

i know most of the levels in the pit at yours, and i also know you built thousands more in Netshift, which is so impressive!

but you know Obie, a lot of your levels are not easy, and it's what i like!!!
i understand new players need some easy levels, and sometimes (not so much, but sometimes...) i also build some easy levels. But these easy levels do not attract new players.
For example, "Ugo's level" was very very easy but only 7 players played it... and no one of them were new...

so i prefer having fun building levels just the way i like them, and maybe one day, new players will be able to choose levels on the basis of difficulty.

about counting the levels won (for the Win Doctor awards), maybe the game should show the % of winnable levels you won, not counting yours.

    2. I can't delete those levels for some reason. "Laser Block Demo" was fixed by Rob so it will never work anymore as well as "Teleport Bug". "Don't Play No End" has already been published under a different name. The others were demos and I pulled the goals.

  56. Mills, you are one of the best players ever. I have checked some of the levels you mentioned. They are unbeatable now as Rob has fixed the flaw that I discovered. I should delete them. Swiftshade beat Teleport Bug last year. It was a flaw where if you teleported into the lasers, the lasers would not kill you. I blocked Go Left Rob - it was a demo. Sorry about that but that was Beta testing for Rob. Rob has allowed some of my flawed levels active but I cannot edit them. If you go to the end of my pit, you have already found some weird stuff that can no longer be done, but I had fun making them. Ha ha ha!

Guys, i've just figured out there is a flaw in my "Jazzy Lazz Mazz".
As you prolly understood, the goal is to destroy all of the 21 'enemies'.
I guess there are a lot of ways to do that, but i've just figured out some of them don't work. The blue counter shows "00" but is not opened.

sorry... i don't know what to do...

    1. The problem Mills is that you zapped all the enemies at once. You have to save one enemy or it doesn't work. I have already shown this problem.

  60. Nah, you may have missed one because it was moving and the timing. Since I have no idea where the enemies are located in many of your hidden levels I just lose interest. Oh well, maybe that is why I have 172000+ hits on my levels.

  61. ahahahah!!! XD XD XD
No obie! you just have to think a little bit, and the enemies will appear... And then, they hold really still !!!

about your hits, you have 172000+ only because you already built 408 levels. But your average number of hits per level is 422. Mine is 557.

    ahahahah!!!! ;) ;) ;)

  62. Mills, tu es mi ami! I built over 1300 levels in Netshift and I am not finished yet. As long as Rob keeps this platform up, I will build levels that people can beat. I try to keep my stuff overt and only really care how many people can beat it. I want to see 10 winners on my maps and don't care how how many hits I get. That means people are playing and that is all I care about. "Depressingly Purple" has 1040 hits, and I got another with over 2300 hits but there are 10 plus winners on both. I have one you may have not beaten because Rob fixed the problem. Wunk found a solution but I couldn't beat his score. I will try to find it for you.

    ReplyDelete
  63. yes we don't care about the number of hits!
we just have different style of building!
what i prefer, it's when i know that a winner is proud to have found the solution of my enigma which he thought untractable!

BTW , i've just published a new level , OVERT, "Noth'n hidden"... Brain and agility are required !!!

i'm waiting for your level i would have not beaten yet, but i'm skeptical...

i'm boring now, i need you to build the new "extra-hard-unbeatable-untractable" level !!!

    ReplyDelete
  64. It is in the works - may take me a bit. Based on a level I made in Netshift but don't have the right tools so, I have to improvise and will probably mess up - ha ha ha. Duplicators are in the wrong direction so, have to turn it upside down.

Several stages that if you make the wrong choice, you are dead. Still working on the white teleporter sequence formula which seems random.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I gotta figure out the universal portal randomness! Damn!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. As I thought Rob said, the portal goes in the sequence you place the tiles, not the nearest. It works that way methinks when you first lay down the tiles but you cannot change the sequence after the fact by deleting the portals, changing placements without re-doing the level completely.

      Delete
    2. The white portal? When you enter one it just scans the board for the next one. It starts where you are and goes up to the top of the board, then to the bottom of the next column to the right, up that column, on to the right, and so on until it finds another portal.

Make a grid of them and you'll see. It's easier than explaining it in words. But it's very simple.

      Delete
  66. I just figured it out with the universal teleport. It goes in reverse sequence. The last one is the first one which kinda doesn't make sense. Whatever - I threw out a demo!

    ReplyDelete
  67. I figured you would blow the demo away Mills. Well, now I got work to do knowing how it works. Kinda. 2 to 1, 1 to 4, 4 to 3, 3 to 2, 2 to 1. Weird!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Gonna add 5 and 6 and see if my sequence is correct. If that works out, then, the real enigma. Game on guys, put up some levels - getting bored!

      Delete
    2. You see Mills, 6+ winners on all my levels, none on your last three. Merde happens.

      Delete
    3. great!
can i build as i like? and can i build as i like to play?

      my favourite levels are these:

No bug but a feature : only 2 winners including the builder himself (Wunk)
I lost my mind: only 3 winners including the builder himself (Wunk again)
      Ortho : 2 winners ...
Slide puzzle, once upon a fix, etc...etc...etc...
or "Destroy the core", Rob's "Impossible city", etc...

and among yours: my favourite levels of yours are these which are difficult, and there are often only 3 ou 4 winners: this is the end, WIP it good, blood in the cut, etc... just for your first page!!! but there are a lot of more, older, as "Biggles has a laser, or "not possible" for example. It's difficult, so there are not a lot of winners.

of course, there are also some easy levels that i like, but that's true that i have a preference for the difficult ones.

you know i like your levels, obie, but even if there are 6+ winners, your last ones are not very interesting, in my respectful opinion...

      you getting bored???
--> try to win the Swiftshade's "Must be Swift" : already 6 winners... you could be the 7th!!!
--> try to win my "Motion Detector" : Already 6 winners...
--> try to win my "Saturday Walk" : Already 6 winners...
--> try to win my "Charlie's Level" : Already 5 winners... you have to be the 6th!!!
--> try to win my "New Menu Screen Maze" : Already 5 winners...
--> try to win my "Speed Racing" : Already 5 winners...
--> try to win my "Bullet Ballet" : Already 5 winners...
--> try to win my "BLACKSHIFT" : 4 winners...
      --> try to win my "7 enemies, 110 bullets" : 4 winners...

there is NO hidden stuff neither in these ones!!! By the way, i'm waiting for U on "Noth'n Hidden", i built it just for you ;)

      Delete
    4. My last ones are mostly demos. Their features will be integrated into other levels but I threw them out there for fun. BTW, I beat Rob's Impossible City when it first came out but it doesn't show up anymore as there was a flaw in the game at the time as well as Wunk's Save Me. Swiftshade's "Must be Swift" is too quick for my old fingers - ha ha ha. My "Blood in the Cut" combines 3 levels into one. "WIP it Good" has two demos in the mix.

Just keep building Mills, I will play them until I get bored or win. Microban 1 @143 has me stumped! Fak!

  68. hi Obie
    you have wrote:
"I built over 1300 levels in Netshift and I am not finished yet. As long as Rob keeps this platform up, I will build levels that people can beat"

i love netshift very much, less speed and more logic.
Can i play it somewhere in internet? burri

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hi burri, i'mgonna let Obie answer you because i'm not sure, but i think NETSHIFT does not exist anymore.

But i am happy to see you are here, because i wanted to apologize to you... because i was impressed by your win on my "An engineer's Job"!!! But i tried to edit it without unvalidating your score, and i have not succeeded...
I didn't want that a player can win dying, so i edited it. I don't understand why it has unvalidated your win, because it doesn't change the way to win.

I don't understand why, but , in any case, i am sorry and congrats for your beautiful win on "An engineer Job"

BTW, i look forward a new good level from you!!!

    2. burri - Netshift is done and Rob is utilizing it's programming in this Blackshift. But, I agree, he has changed the speed making it a bit easier. And, he has blocked the flaws that I discovered. My favourite (Wunk's as well) was pushing a block off a teleporter and it would go in a direction depending on the previous teleporter. As well, the clone tile should work in all directions or, get a new clone tile. Plus, you could change a null tile into a moveable tile with the clone tile. I got a bunch of levels from Netshift I can't duplicate in this game and when I try with different strategies, I usually mess up.

      Delete
    3. Burri - played Microban on the internet so I could see what the logic was all about! Got #112 but #143 has me a bit stumped. Oil well, I may figure it out someday! Good puzzles Burri! Search for "Radi's Puzzle Solved" (page 10), back in the day we could check out other people's level pits and look for unfinished ones. Radi made a slight mistake which I corrected.

"Passageways" is another 'level theft' which I corrected. And, "Let's Do Lunch" is another - it was actually Lunch's level unfinished. The bottom half was his, the top was mine. Mills beat it unconventionally but I didn't mind!

"Box Guidance" was unbeatable in Netshift and can't remember who built it. I just took screenshots and the first and second parts where his. I did the bottom half because his bottom half didn't work in this game. When Wunk saw that I beat it he asked me how - so I sent him the screen shots. In this game, it had to be modified heavily because Netshift had some neat features that I could manipulate.

Rob pulled down Netshift because it was free and taking a lot of band width which apparently, the ads couldn't pay for but there were hundreds of players. I think it also had a feature where you could view the replay of the game you played even if you didn't win.

Oh well, build on Burri - good stuff!

    4. yes and I would also recommend to you these wunk's levels:

      -FlipFlop Test
      -Once upon a fix
      -Slide puzzle
      -One shot
      -bbuulllleett test
-reverse it (or More laser fun)
      -kadoffe is back
      -Untitled (both)
      -pushing fun

      only logic puzzles!!!

      or the Drerio's levels:
      - builders delight
      - playing with pets
      - hold this for me
      - Make your own maze

      Delete
    5. I did beat most of those levels except for a few from Wunk. He hides stuff and I get bored. Beat all of Drerio's levels but the best one was "Playing with Pets" - genius! I figured it out eventually and think I was the second person to beat it. Whatever, keep building.

      Delete
    6. if i'm not wrong, i think burri has not won these levels yet, and i think he could like them because they all are some logic puzzle levels.
and yes "playing with pets" is absolutely awsome!!!

about wunk's levels, there isn't anything really hidden in "Slide Puzzle", neither in "Once upon a fix"(there are some hidden stuff, but it's not really important because you see what's is gonna come)

      Delete
    7. Like I said Mills, if I get bored, I don't play the game but I did map out "Once upon a fix" (tetris), I know the sequence but lost my map! Got 3 in the pit now but won't publish them until finished. Working on the timing on one of them. I will be quick!

      Delete
  69. ah tatascan, you have again found a flaw in my "Keys Kiss" !!! I don't know if there is another one, but as Obie says , i won't make a second change on this level.
Obie is right and if there is another flaw, i won't edit it and i will improve it in a next level. Because it's not cool to unvalidate a score of a player who has been hard to win a level.
So, i'm sorry Tatascan, and thank you to have showed me this flaw!

    ReplyDelete
  70. "Keys Kiss" - Mills got thru your first level, working on the second. I figured I had to deceive the bug to the end and quickly escape so I could go back and push in the bomb to get both keys (cool strategy). Second level, running too fast and getting whacked! Ha ha!

Found 2 more levels from Blackshift that I can add to "This is the End" because it is not finished. Gonna have to change the sequence a bit because the deflectors sometimes miss. Won't do it until someone beats my score.

    ReplyDelete
  71. thanks obie and mills for your logic games exambles!

my favorit games are blackshift 2D, wonderland 3D and the DROD series
i like comic style and map exploring
    all the best burri

  72. Rob, I need the drop pin that you can carry to deflect the enemy. I can reproduce 20 or more levels from Netshift with this device and even more because the drop pin will deflect everything including the lasers. It would be fun and timing is important.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. waoouww!! that looks great!!! please Rob!!

      Delete
    2. I'm with you Mills. In the netshift game, all pick-ups were a drop pin. But methinks Rob wants a specific drop pin. We will see in the next update.

  73. You know, sometimes when I build a big level, I put in a slider tour of the level so, you know what you are up against. Because the frame is so small, this might help for people to understand what they are up against. I dunno. Building a new level based on "Easy for Noobs" but this time, there will be no short cuts. Just gotta figure out the timing for level two. Busy at work so, it may take a bit to finish. Stay well my friends, build on!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Mills, what did you do to your last couple of levels? Do I have to start them over again? If you hit a save tile, nothing changes on a changed tile. WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  75. yes obie, i don't understand ... In Quadricolor, i just added a save tile, it doesnt change anything, so i don't understand why the scores are unvalidated...

about jazzy bazz, i changed a little bit to try to avoid the laser problem...

    ReplyDelete
  76. I will start them over again. Maybe Rob can figure it out but he hasn't updated since early June and has not been posting on Trello since then!

    1. yes i think a new update is coming soon!!!

Sorry Obie, i knew that your level was not finished, but i couldnt wait and i tried it... but i died winning. I don't like that, your level looks good, i should have waited. i have to be more patient... Sorry for that obie...

      Delete
    2. BTW, i dunno why, but i "won/died" only once, but it counts 2 wins...

      Delete
    3. I deleted the ending but, it will be the same. You have to bring the two deflectors before the the doors get closed. Template not available on this computer but should be on my office computer. Getting back to get the other deflector takes timing. Otherwise you get squashed. And, the extra bullet is just a ruse or, maybe not - I will finish is when I find some time in my busy sched. The only way you could have died is if you blew up the bomb standing next to it! Ha ha ha ha! I was actually thinking of expanding this level but, because you like it so much, I will finish it and maybe use parts of it in future levels/maps. I like the part about blowing up the open doors - my fav!

  77. hi mills
i can not solve user level "zxin's world 001"
i can not cross the two barrels, after entering the left transporter field.
do you have any hints for me?

    thanks, burri

    1. hi burri!

i'm sure you'd rather find the solution yourself...
you can believe me, i was proud !!

but if you really don't find it, i will give you the solution (it's difficult to give you just a hint, because a hint would be almost the solution)

    2. hmm...should i find a way to destroy the barrels (with lasers)?
or can i slip through the two barrels?
i can drop the dynamite on the circle field in the first map, but nothing happen.
It seems to be impossible to clear this level.

    3. ok Burri
you have to slip through the two barrels...

    4. thanks for help, but i give up this level. i set the window to thumbnail size and the graphic mode to "blurry mess", but i have no chance to slip through.
      best burri

    5. yes, me too, i tried to set some stuff, but no, it's just a matter of timing.
It's true that it's frustrating to try and try, and try again...
I did try a lot because i completed the Pit... there was only few levels i hadn't won (because not winnable, or not winnable anymore). But i felt this one was doable!!!

      i finally won it, but...
      ... I'm boring now

i can't wait the next update, and new toys !!! :D

      Delete
  78. I see zxin has fixed that level which didn't work originally. Burri, you literally have to slip thru the bottom half of the barrel. It can be done - no save files because they messed up the game back then. zxin has made some amazing levels in Netshift in the past, too bad he has seemed to have disappeared including Bobby, Wunk, Kadoffe and a few others. Rob seems to have disappeared as well.... As long as he doesn't pull the game, I be happy.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. obie, i really don't think zxin came back, fixed the level, and disappeared again without winning his level...
i had to try more than 2400 times to find a way to win. and i found while i didn't know if it was winnable!!!

BTW, if you know the Bobby's, wunk's, kadoffee's emails (and others), it would be great to send them a mail for remotivate them.

The next update would be a good reason to remotivate the lost players!!

    5. Fak, now my dumb ass level shows up again. Rob told me not to fuck with his methods but dumbass me messes with shit! That is how I found a ton of errors. I gotta fix Try not to die! but, I am sure I got back there once to get the other deflector. You have to stutter step the rollers, otherwise, I will fix it. I will give you a week Mills to not die! When Rob does another update, will contact Bobby, Wunk, Kadoffe, and a few others.

zxin probably beat his own level but, it may not have registered. I beat Wunk's Save Me level and Impossible City a couple of years ago. It showed up as a win but, disappeared when he fixed the save tile.

      Delete
  79. Pretty impressive on how you destroyed "Try not to Die" Mills! Ha ha ha, I always try to make your day! It's funny, when I put the bomb on the Green Door tiles, it didn't blow up, I guess I wasn't fast enough and when the tiles get re-inflated, the bullet does nothing. You may see that level again in a collage of levels I am playing with and the Door re-inflate tile can make that happen. Jeez, haven't used the machine gun lately! Gotta work on that! WTF? I'm losing it! Ha ha

    ReplyDelete

    1. Nah Millx, no more machine guns because I know you can shoot seven bullets at a time, but here is the good news, Rob is going to put an update soon! How he is going work a wormhole, well who knows! Rob is back on the job so, let's encourage him with ideas. He is a fucking genius and they get a bit weird some times. I do recommend you go thru his Hapland levels but then again, you can cheat and find a solution on the web but, try to figure them out without cheating!

    2. i figured out the way to shoot 7 bullets at once, and i showed how, but then, i was not using it anymore.
any way, Rob fixed it now, which is good!!!

I have known the Haplands very long time ago!! (Rob know it very well... ;D )
and i you may guess, i won them!! (and i think there was not any solution on the web in this year!!!)
i was in love for these games, and i think, it's like that i found blackshift...
